Obituary- Joseph Olinyo

Dear all,

It is with great sadness, a heavy heart, and the humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the death of our dear colleague and friend Joseph Olinyo, after a long battle with cancer bravely borne. Joseph passed away on Saturday morning, 27 January 2018, at the MP Shah Hospital in Nairobi.

Our deep and heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, his friends and to all of us. May the Lord Almighty take Joseph’s departed soul to His heavenly abode to rest in eternal peace. May our heavenly Father give Nolega (his wife), Joseph’s beloved children, Joseph’s brother and sisters, his entire family, all his loved ones, and the TMEA family, strength to bear this irreparable loss. May He comfort Joseph’s family and all of us in the way that only He can.

Family and relatives are meeting daily for prayers and funeral arrangements. Bethwel will let us know where the venue for the meetings will be, as well as the time. It has been suggested that colleagues in Nairobi form a Committee to work with the family on the funeral arrangements. Could I please request everyone who would like to be part of this to meet at 1.15pm in the Boardroom to agree on how this will work (you may bring your lunch with you).

Joseph’s family has scheduled a fundraising meeting on Wednesday, 31 January 2018 to raise money his funeral expenses. Let us continue supporting them with our voluntary contributions. John Basweti will take a collection form round. Colleagues in Country Offices can channel their contributions the respective Finance and Administration Officers. Bethwel will get in touch with them to agree on how the collected funds will be sent to Nairobi.

Joseph will be buried on Saturday, 3 February 2018 at his ancestral home in Kapsokwony, Mt Elgon Sub-county. If you would like to attend the funeral, please confirm with Benedict who is coordinating travel arrangements, by end of day Wednesday, 31 January 2018. Benedict will communicate the travel arrangements to those who express their interest, on Thursday afternoon.

Thank you to all for the immense support given to Joseph’s family. We have demonstrated the true power of friendship and togetherness. Let us continue praying for and supporting Joseph’s entire family and loved ones as they go through this difficult time.

Rest in eternal peace Joseph!

Best regards

Wairimu
